Bad Management
DESCRIPTION: On Tuesday March 25, 2003 around noon I walked into Dairy Queen in Wolfforth. When I first walked in the lobby didn't look like it had been cleaned. There were no clean tables they all had something on them most were just salt, pepper, and ketchup. When we were ordering the lady that took my order was not very presentable. She didn't look like she wanted to be there and she didn't smile. She didn't ask if she could help us, she just stood there and waited until we told her our order. I feel like she did not greet us properly. My daughter and I grabbed some napkins and cleaned our chairs and table top. There were no other clients and I think the time it took to cook two Crispy Chicken Salads was not reasonable. When we got our meal it wasn't very presentable it looked like they had just thrown it together instead of it looking like the picture. I decided to talk to the manager and it turned out to be the lady that had taken our orders. I feel that my complaint was not taken seriously enough. Her remarks were rude, "Well it doesn't have to look like the picture, I would think that someone your age would know by now." I hope that this time my complaint will be taken seriously and that a drastic measure be taken. I have always been there at night and received good service. That's the reason why I was so surprised with the managers' rudeness toward a customer.

Not Very Good
DESCRIPTION: Tortillas are the most important thing in a Mexican food restaurant. If the tortillas are good, odds are everything else is good also. El Sombrero has tortillas that are thick and heavy with an aged yellow hue served lukewarm. The service is competent but not especially friendly. Ambience: cheap paneling with some gringo looking Mexican curios hung here and there. Expensive for what you get.

Great Find
DESCRIPTION: The dining room is clean and colorfully decorated with Mexican curios. The moment you are seated, a friendly waitress sets a basket of warm chips in front of you and takes a drink order. The meunu has a typical assortment of Mexican American dishes. My favorite is the regular dinner. Whatever you get you can't go wrong and it always comes with light and fluffy tortillas and an unusual, but crowd pleasing, hot sauce.

Good's Cafe Still the Best

DESCRIPTION: Mrs. Goodson's old cafe' is still right where it was when the oil patch was in bloom and folks were landing helicopters in the pasture to have lunch.

Goodson's Goodness
DESCRIPTION: I have always enjoyed Goodson's and their legendary chicken fried steak! There is no better place to try one of Texas' oldest traditions! This is definitely one reason you must stop in Tomball if you ever have the opportunity.

Not What it Used to Be
DESCRIPTION: I started going to Goodson's perhaps 20 years ago and indeed I had never had a better chicken fried steak anywhere. But after not eating there (I live in New Orleans) for about five years I went back recently. It isn't what it used to be. Twice I retried the place and the Chicken Fried Steak was thin (although it looked thick it was about 25% meat and 75% batter and the meat was marred by numerous areas of chewy grizzle. It was also only lukewarm and the service was slow. I understand that things change but this one wasn't a positive one. Although the restaurant is now a lot glitzier the food is not at all the same as when the original Goodsons owned the place.

Best Cafe For Miles Around
DESCRIPTION: The chicken fried steak is superior, but you should try their chicken tenders, they're scrumptous. Their fried okra is the best anywhere. All the vegetables are really good, not just a side order to fill your plate. Can't leave out those homemade yeast rolls. The rolls alone (well, maybe with a little honey) will keep you coming back for more. Very friendly staff. Always enjoy my time there.
