Amazing Place

DESCRIPTION: Terrific experience. Dinner was great: Chilean Sea Bass was cooked perfectly and the sweet potato with shrimp side was unique and delicious. My husband had the filet - he loved it - it was cooked perfectly, very tender, sauce was not overpowering. For dessert I had the fruit platter which was very generous and very fresh, husband had the black and white creme brulee - fantastic!

Upset with Holiday Dinner
DESCRIPTION: Turkey dinner was $22.95. We paid extra for coffee and dessert ($8.50 for two piece of pie). Our Dinner & dessert for two cost us $56.00 dollars. We Should of went to another local restaurant where two Dinners cost $30.00, and include dessert, soup, salad, and coffee. We will not go there again for any holiday dinner.

Fabulous Dinner on Valentine's Day
DESCRIPTION: I live in Dallas but happened to be in Columbus the week of Valentine's Day so I was treated to a wonderful evening at the Olde Columbus Inne. I was fascinated in the history of the old building as well as it's reputation for ghosts. I must tell you I will be back for dinner. The food was outstanding. I had prime rib that was prefectly prepared. The best martini I have had in years. The service was outstanding, everything was perfect and we really enjoyed meeting the owner of the restaurant. Their cheesecake was superb. I would give this restaurant an A+ in all fields. Prices were unbelievable. In talking to some of the other people eating there, it is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant where most of them eat often with their families. Great selection of wines also.

A Gem for Japanese Food Lovers
DESCRIPTION: This venerable family run Japanese has been a favorite of those "in the know" for nearly 20 years. Sagami is tucked into a converted house. Despite the lack of ambiance, this is a mecca for people who are more concerned with what is on their plate than around it. Clearly, the specialty of the house is the fresh fish, whether served as sushi, sashimi, or one of Shigaru's other specialties. What sets Sagami apart from the other area Japanese restaurants is the quality and consistency of the ingredients and presentation. You never get a second-rate piece of fish or sloppy platter, though this means that some items may not be available on any particular day and that service from the sushi bar is often painfully slow. Seasonal specialties such as Toro (belly-tuna) or ama-ebi (tiny, sweet shrimp) compliment a selection of the standard raw, marinated, and broiled varieties of seafood. A full kitchen produces a number of traditional Japanese hot dishes from a serviceable Tempura to an intense Teiyaki to a passable Shabu-Shabu. Appetizers such as Hamachi-Kama (salt-broiled Yellowtail Jowl,) Gomai (marinated watercress,) and Deep-Fried Oysters are not to be missed, even if this means that you have less room for other treats. The lunch menu varies slightly from the dinner menu and is a relative bargain. Service is often slow, even to the point of being inattentive, especially during the weekend rush when the large number of regulars tend to overload both the kitchen and staff time. The guys behind the bar are a friendly bunch most nights, but with nearly everyone in the place ordering sushi or sashimi, Ru, Tako, and a crew of 2-4 other sushi makers are often a blur of fingers and knives. BYOB, but setups are provided without charge. Reservations required on weekends and long waits are still very common. No reservations at the sushi bar.

Excellent Mid-Week Meal!
DESCRIPTION: Giovanni's Restaurant in Flemington, NJ. My husband and I went on a Wednesday night in July (his birthday) - and the place was pretty quiet. We asked if we could eat at the bar, and although they usually don't allow it, they made an exception for us since it wasn't busy. The owner, Dino, was a joy, as was the bartender, Pietro (you can call him Peter). They sang, they bickered, they conversed in Italian, it almost made you feel like you were in Italy. The food was excellent - I had gnocchi and my husband had seafood over pasta - we started out with excellent bread with a sundried tomato cheese, bruschetta and fresh parmesan, appetizer special of crab stuffed scallops with a mustard sauce (amazing!) and finished with a lemony afterdinner drink and a piece of mascarpone cake with a candle in it. What a great experience! Dino said the place is VERY busy on the weekends, so I highly recommend going during the week!
