Clean, Wide selection of Beer and Alcohol
DESCRIPTION: While the outside appearance is a typical Hagerstown bar, you will be pleasantly suppressed at the inside of the establishment! With 10 draught beer selections, over 80 bottled beers, and countless bottles of liquor. Merlin s has a great selection of alcoholic products to meet any taste! The food was very tasty, and modestly priced. I had their double cheese burger lunch special for $3.50, and let me tell you they really surprised me with a huge burger. This thing was 2/3 lb sirloin ground beef! It was very juicy and tasty! They must also be known for their wings, as I saw several people order them, looking at the menu I saw that they had 10 different flavors of wings! I will definitely have to come back to try them. Their menu prices were way undervalued for the quality of their food from what I could see. They have a Dace floor, free music, a billiards table, NTN Trivia network, and Darts. The bathrooms were very clean, and the staff and patron were friendly. I definitely think I found my favorite new hangout!

An unexpected, but pleasant evening out.
DESCRIPTION: At the last minute we decided we were going to eat out and ended up at the Mangia Market and Eatery. We were recommended to go here or we probably would not have even gone in. On the ground floor it appears to be only a typical Italian style take-out with limited seating.<P> Once inside we were pleasantly surprised to find that the second and third floor were set up as a cozy, clean, informal dining area. There was ample room to navigate between the tables and there is no feeling of being crowded like in some small establishments.<P> The other surprise was the level of service. Our server was ever polite and attentive to our needs. Always there when needed, but never intruding. The service was more professional than in some five star restaurants in which I have dined.<P> We took a chance on the specials our waiter recommended and were pleased we had. The servings sizes were generous, the food delicious, and it arrived piping hot. Obviously cooked fresh and to order, our food appeared almost as soon as we had finished our salads.<P> Though we have never visited this restaurant before we are already looking forward to our next visit. There is good value for the money here and I will recommend this establishment to my friends.

Excellent Seafood
DESCRIPTION: I have been coming to the River Watch Restaurant for many years now, since Whitties and Dots (spelling?) in Essex closed its doors. Ther River Watch is one of the best Seafood restaurants located on the water in the Baltimore area. Its nothing fancy. Dress up or dress down, it's a very laid back atmosphere. In the summertime I recommend eating outside on the deck! You can see the boats going by, watch the band play, smell the fresh air, look at the beautiful view of the water, birds and ducks. Best of all is the view of the sun setting!

sampler is a meal not an appetizer
DESCRIPTION: Had dinner at House of Welsh. I made the mistake of ordering the seafood sampler as an appetizer and also my porterhouse steak. The sampler in itself is a meal. You get 4 crab balls, 6 scallops, 6 shrimps, tomatoes, onion rings, greek olives, fried clams for 17.50. I had trouble eating that. I had little room left for the big steak.

WOW!
DESCRIPTION: Food Dishes are creative, flavorful and presented wonderfully. They are works of art in an of themselves. Try one of the daily specials to be impressed and be sure to save room for dessert! The cannoli's are excellent! Service is always well organized, friendly and available. The restaurant is small so you can always catch the attention of someone, even if it's not your waiter/waitress and they're always willing to assist you. Ambiance - small cozy italian fresco style with grape vines hanging from mock arbors, fresco coated walls, italian music and italian tiles on the tables and floors. Nice neighborhood 'hole in the wall' type of restaurant in strip mall that does not look interesting when you're standing in front of it so you can easily miss it. However you should take the time to come inside and be swept away by the smells from the kitchen. Bottom line....This restaurant definitely deserves a try. Besides the standard italian fare the chef is always adventurous and tries new combinations of foods and ideas with his daily specials. It used to be that you could always get a table quickly. Now, because of such positive 'word of mouth' spreading the news about this restaurant be prepared to wait awhile for a table. If you do have to wait, ask the sommelier for a recommendation on wine. Atrocious Service
DESCRIPTION: While the food was very good, this was the most frustrating dining experience of my life. It took a total of one hour and forty minutes after ordering to get our dinners. Three separate inquiries of the waitress were met with a response of "special orders take a while" yet we had NO special orders. Three requests to speak to a manager were ignored. Nobody ever apologized, nobody ever offered to find out what was taking so long, nobody offered to do anything to make it right. Completely unprofessional.

Try it again...
DESCRIPTION: We found this place about five years ago... and actually stopped going after a while because the food wasn't what we had come to expect. However, the owner stepped back into the mix and the food quality again seems consistent. There are still times when they can have an "off night" - (both in service and food) but for the most part, this is a very good restaurant. While I think they go out on a limb too oten with specials, Agrodolce's pasta dishes are about some of the best I've had.

Incredible Experience from Start to Finish
DESCRIPTION: This restaurant is simply one of the best I've ever visited. The food is fantastic (but I get the same dish every time - chicken and proscuitto sandwich), the service is top-notch, and the ambiance is perfect. I have driven, and will continue to drive, 40 minutes to an hour out of my way to enjoy Ricciuti's food. Some things are worth the effort.

Fantastic
DESCRIPTION: We visit Ricciuti's fairly often and I am sure that you cannot go just once. The wait staff is always pleasant and efficient and the food is always excellent. As a vegetarian, I am often wary of new restaurants but Riccuiti's has plenty to offer everyone. The restaurant is located in historic Olney House, so there are several small dining rooms which often make for a nice quiet, intimate setting.

Our Favorite
DESCRIPTION: I missed New England terribly when we moved to the DC area, but I found a cozy and delicious slice of home at Riccuti's! Not only is the atmosphere hard to beat - a restored old home - but the food and service are wonderful. My most strigent test of service is whether or not the staff shows the same amount of attention and respect when I'm with clients vs with my children, and they pass with flying colors. On top of all that, when I do get the rare opportunity to dine sans kids with my husband, the cocktails and wine list are also very nice. Riccuti's is truly my favorite!

Creative and Diverse
DESCRIPTION: This restaurant has changed its name since it originally opened, but not the quality of its food, which is excellent. Don't be fooled by the name - this is no pizza parlor, though they do serve excellant pizzas both in the dining rooms and carry out. But if you only get the pizza, you'll miss out on the real treats, which are the dinner entrees. Appetizers are also wonderful, but don't bother saving room for desserts, which are overpriced and skippable. The menu is not large, but it gradually changes. That's a shame, in a way, because I sometimes miss a favorite entree I had in the past. But, it is always replaced by something new. Its the creativity that I like - the difference between having a chef in the kitchen and a mere cook. This restaurant has a chef, and it makes every meal a pleasure. Prices are a little higher than "average", but quite reasonable for the quality and quantity. The dining rooms are small in this converted old house, and can be a bit cramped. Worse is the waiting area, which is far too small on a busy evening. And you will wait if you haven't made a reservation - this place is deservedly popular with people who enjoy good food.

Overpriced and Underperforming
DESCRIPTION: Aqua Terra suffers from a social superiority complex that is not supported by its food or service. Although seemingly hip in appearance, the restaurant is a disaster. Dinner on March 6, 2004 featured a cool and inattentive attitude at the front door, overcooked lamb sloppily presented on the plate, and a total absence of bread (the manager explained that the restaurant was "too small" and had no space in the kitchen to keep bread). The tab for two people, with three glasses of wine between them and without dessert: Over $100. This was the worst restaurant experience I've had in ten years, in any city I've visited.

Worst meal ever
DESCRIPTION: We spent a fortune to have Mothers Day at this restaurant. The price was for a Ruth's Chris steak, the quality was just a hair under Burger King. We had 3/4 of an inch thick of gristle and fat. Heard others discussing the bad food on the way out. I'm $200.00 poorer and hated the meal as did the others at our table.

An average example of the chain
DESCRIPTION: Ledo's is a local chain of franchised Pizza Parlors. The main attraction for owners is that the franchise gives them considerable freedom in what they serve. This can be good and bad: Some Ledo's are absolutely fantastic, while others are mediocre, at best. This one in Derwood used to be one of the worst, but has greatly improved and is now at least "average" for the chain. The most important thing to know is that most Ledo's use baking powder and not yeast in the crust for their pizza. This makes the pizza the most skippable item on the menu. One the plus side, the soups, salads, and sandwiches are quite tasty, and offered with "all you can eat" options. There is a carry out counter as well as the dining room. The latter is spartan, but clean. Its a good place to go for an inexpensive meal.

DESCRIPTION: Panera is a nice middle-groud between fast food and restaurant dining. You place your order and pay for it up front, pick it up (usually soon after ordering), and take it to a table. I like their selection of salads, soups, and sandwiches. They have a bunch of coffee drinks, but as I'm not a coffee drinker, I can't comment on them. They always seem quick. The food is reliably fresh and yummy. I was glad to see that Panera recently added desserts to its menu, which was one gaping hole I had noticed. I was disappointed with the new Green Iced Tea they began offering recently; it was super-sweet and not at all what I had expected. I much prefer the frothier I.C. Honeydew Green Tea. I find their atmosphere of warm-toned decor and understated jazz background music to be welcoming. It always feels comfortable there.

DESCRIPTION: Somewhat pricy for the location, but repeat business is guaranteed. If you like steamed crabs, this is the place to go. Their special includes one dozen steamed crabs, one pound of shrimp and a pitcher of cold beer. Crabs are hot and spicy.
