DESCRIPTION: This place serves good food. The service is fair, atmosphere is all right, but it's the food that sticks out the most. Of all the sushi restaurants in the area, this place serves the best tasting dishes.

DESCRIPTION: Don't let the old decore fool you! Arigato may be one of several hibachi style restaurants in Greensboro, but in this reviewer s opinion, it is the best for several reasons. First and foremost, I have always been pleased with the food selection, presentation and taste. Next, the service is continually excellent. Lastly, the amount of food served is well worth the money as you will most likely have enough to take home for lunch the next day! When ordering at Arigato, there are several things to consider. One, you will be served a chicken broth based onion soup and a salad with each meal. The best dressings are the house and the ginger. Your waitress will ask you what sauces you want with your meal, white (good with anything), ginger (chicken, meat) or brown (meat). I highly recommend the white sauce and the hot sauce (which the chef will pass around after he begins cooking). You will also be served a complimentary shrimp appetizer (about four or five pieces) as well as fried rice (has some corn and onion in it) and vegetables (onions and squash). Depending on your order, you will also receive another vegetable (meat/mushrooms, chicken/carrots, shrimp/broccoli). You can create just about any meat combination you desire, such as meat, chicken and shrimp or meat and shrimp etc. You also have the option to add extra of any meat for an additional price. I, for example, always order shrimp with extra shrimp. The only addition I do not suggest is the lobster tail as it is far too small and is usually overcooked on the hibachi table. Arigato also has a sushi bar, and while I have never eaten at the bar, I have often added sushi as an appetizer. There is also a full service bar which has never failed to mix my drinks (mostly Cosmos) to their maximum benefit (wink, wink). As at any hibachi style restaurant, you will be dining elbow to elbow with complete strangers, but I ve met some very interesting people in Greensboro over shrimp and white sauce! Overall, Arigato gets four chef knives up.

The Best Unagi Ever! Fresh and Large Sushi Portions
DESCRIPTION: Bonsai is a small restaurant with an intimate and casual atmosphere. You'll find that most of their customers are regulars. They will be chatting with the sushi chefs and Mike, the owner of the restaurant. There's a reason that it attracts so many loyal customers. The sushi is fresh and served in large portions that will puts to shame all other restaurants in the SF Bay Area. The unagi (eel) and saba (mackerel) are my favorites because they are the best! This is one of only a few sushi places that serve Bonito sashimi and it's the best here. I'm a sushi fanatic and although I've been to almost all of the high profile sushi restaurants in the SF Bay Area, Bonsai remains my favorite. I've eaten at Sushi Ran in Sausalito, Fuki Sushi in Palo Alto, Hagashi West in Palo Alto, Toshi's Sushiya in Menlo Park, Miyake's, and they all pale in comparison to Bonsai (where I go to eat the food not the ambiance).

I've become a Sushi Snob ...
DESCRIPTION: ... after eating at Bonsai! After you eat here, you'll know what REAL SUSHI should taste like! As of August 2003, Bonsai is moving locations to El Camino Real (sorry I don't have the actual address right now) but with the updated look, I can't wait to see what the ambiance will become. I love the owner and the sushi staff and have even taken an awsome hands on sushi class there -- well worth it! BEST Poki (spicy hawaiian tuna) and Unagi (eel) Heaven YUM! They're very addictive!

Decent Sushi
DESCRIPTION: Behind its plain facade (we walked right past it) Sushi-Ko is quite a fashionable Japanese place. The minimalist decor extends even to the bathrooms. Their miso soup was quite good, as was the sea trout sushi (Umi Masu, $3.50). Other sushi, however, was only decent - not actively bad, but I'd expected better from such a popular spot. Our first order of sushi arrived without wasabi - perhaps this is just an East Coast thing? - and it took several minutes for it to arrive after we requested it. They seemed to be a bit understaffed - our tea ran out several times, and it took a while to get it refilled. They do have fresh wasabi on the menu, and it's worth a try. It tastes a little more like horseradish than the usual wasabi (from powder) and mixes less well with soy sauce.

Sushi Ko Rocks!
DESCRIPTION: While sushi shouldn't be intimidating anymore, it still can be. For me, I have to feel some trust for the staff, and sitting at the big counter certainly makes me feel that way. I've been so pleased that I've tried things I wouldn't have dared to at a lesser restaurant. I adore the soft shell crab rolls. The kobe steak is fab for those intimidated by the fish. The wine list is superb.
