True Ligurian cuisine
DESCRIPTION: This restaurant is excellent. Great atmosphere and great food from the Italian Riviera (Liguria region). The fish is imported from the mediterranean!! Homemade everything- pastas, pastries and real gelato! The owners have been cooking together 42 years and are so friendly. Take it from someone who lived in the Riveria region - this place is legit.

Great neighborhood restaurant
DESCRIPTION: The food is wonderful--especially the pastas and appetizers--and the owners are welcoming and charming. The squid-ink pasta with baby clams is marvelous.

The Worst Wine Service in Town
DESCRIPTION: Last year, we had dinner at Trattoria Liliana. The food was good but our evening was dampened by the waiter cum wine steward who refused to chill our red wine (a chianti) which was too warm. My husband argued bitterly with him about red wine serving temperature and he still refused. Finally, my husband said, "Look, just do it." And the guy left in a huff. A female server came to take his place. Last Friday, we decided to give Liliana another try, hoping that Michel, the "wine expert" would be gone. Well, he was there and, although we had asked our server to chill our pinot noir, he came to our table asking if we had questions about the wine. We said no and then he went on to lecture us that he can not chill the wine because it was unfiltered and unblended. Same argument, different red. We told him that he didn't know what he was talking about, but the guy actually believed he did. We gave up ordering another bottle of red, finished our meal, paid the bill and swore never to set foot there again!

Wine Spectator Award?
DESCRIPTION: One would think that a restaurant with a Wine Spectator award for its wine list would know have some rudimentary knowledge of wine service. All the red wine is baked -- served at least 10 dedgree too warm -- and precludes having a civilized meal. I suppose the good news is that talented chef Jose Andres has an unlimited supply of red wine reduction sauce.
