Unexpected food, high prices
DESCRIPTION: My wife and I both ordered the same dish, and the chef used herbs and spices that seriously detracted from the taste of the underlying food. Not bad, but the chef needs to experiment less in the kitchen. Prices place this in Chateau Gourmet territory, and CG makes much better food.

Delicious value
DESCRIPTION: My wife and I have eaten at the Royal Oak several times on our trips to Lake Arrowhead. Food is always delicious and reasonably priced. Try it!!

So-so food, overpriced, slow service
DESCRIPTION: My girlfriend and I ate here Dec 26, 2005. A table was being apologized to as we arrived. The service was quite slow the entire meal, even though the dining area was not full and they appeared to have enough servers. The house cabernet (Liberty Winery) was poor. The salads were included and were okay. My girlfriend had the chicken and manicotti dish, which tasted decently, but it was priced at $19.95, and was really worth about $13. I had the Tournedos, which consisted of a small filet (4-6 oz) resting on a piece of breaded eggplant, with a mushroom cap on top and b arnaise sauce drizzled over the top. They had already run out of baked potatoes by 8pm, so I had extra veggies instead. My meal was $21, and I was reasonably satisfied with it for that price. Most of the entr es were priced well above $21, and did not appear to be worth the money. The lighting inside the restaurant was too bright for an evening meal in a 'nice' restaurant. Bright lights are for lunch time, and dinner at places like Denny's. Since I can drive a few more miles over to the Chateau Gourmet restaurant in Lake Gregory and get better atmosphere, service, and food for the same or less money, I will not be going back to the Royal Oak in the future.

DESCRIPTION: I have eaten at this establishment three times and have yet to finish a rack of ribs by myself in one sitting; and I'm not a small guy. All the food and sauces are made from scratch. Quality meets quantity, I always leave satisfied. Comfortable casual atmosphere, good music and a great deck to have a couple cold ones and people watch. Try it, you'll definitely like it. The BBQ pulled pork sandwich is also outstanding.

The BEST dining experience
DESCRIPTION: My husband and I had dinner at Casual Elegance last month. I feel that the whole dining experience was extraordinary. My husband and I enjoy gourmet meals and we both feel that this was THE BEST gourmet dinner we have ever experienced. The best part (other than the food) was to see the chef, in which I think was the owner come out of the kitchen and mingle with the guests. I dont know her name but she seemed very friendly and obviously enjoyed her work. I wish her restaurant the best of luck and I hope that you have a chance to experience this wonderful dinnerhouse.
