Great vegetarian food!
DESCRIPTION: I can't recall what I ordered, but because of the round woven serving tables, we all ate from each other's dishes. I had a stew of sorts with potatoes, green beans and carrots. One friend had lentils (very yummy), another had chickpeas (spicy!).

BEST VALUE IN A LONG TIME
DESCRIPTION: There on sat night 2-21-04 had the grilled portabella mushroom for an app which was very good. My husband had a shrimp cocktail which he said was cooked just right. We order a bottle from their wine list MacMurry pinot noir $26.00 I think. I had the crab cakes which I LOVED,my husband had the johnny apples steak sizzler, which he loved, and the best part the dessert menu was fantastic. I will be back soon

Birthday Dinner
DESCRIPTION: We set out to Johnny Apples for a birthday dinner. We arrived and were seated near the fireplace. We ordered the crab in a puff pastry which came out barley warm and dry. I ordered the scallops in a brandy cream sauce, again this can out luke warm and my vegetables were cold. My daughter ordered the filet which again was serverd warm, although tasty her garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables were cold to touch. Her friend ordered the chicken parm. which came out piping hot and was very good. She could not finish her dish and requested to have it wrapped. The waitress discarded the dish forgetting our request. We ordered a bottle of red wine. This came to the table ice cold. Although after waiting almost an hour for it to warm up, it was a nice bottle of wine. The ambiance was nice although in general the restaurant was cold (and we sat next to the fireplace). Overall it was a disaster and I would not recommend having dinner here. We were dissapointed.

DESCRIPTION: Johnny Apples is one of the best places i have ever ate at.................... the atmosphere was warm and friendly and it seem like everyone there was having a great time........... i personally met the owner and she was so nice.......... but the best part was the food, i had the shrimp scampi and enjoyed it so much, My kids had french fries and chicken tenders and they were really good. I advise you go there, and i will be going back soon.

Excellent Food at a Good Price
DESCRIPTION: We eat at Kush regularly and enjoy the food tremendously. They recently put out a new, larger menu and we are working our way through it. In terms of the service: always pleasant and charming but not particularly fast. Sometimes when it's busy the staff seem overwhelmed. Go when you want a relaxed pace. The restaurant is small and nicely done for a neighborhood cafe.

Worth every penny
DESCRIPTION: I've been here several times, and I've never been disappointed. The bread is always fresh and warm from the oven. The sheer chai is perfect, easily the best I've ever had. With a large selection of vegetarian entrees, there's something for everyone.

ETHIOPIAN RESTAURANT
DESCRIPTION: The Blue Nile Cafe boasts a filling meal at a moderate price range with guaranteed leftovers. Prices are reasonable, ranging from $5.50-$7.25 for lunch and $5.50-$10 for dinner. For a gathering with several friends who have appetites, The Blue Nile serves just the right ingredients and a good variety of options. If you don't think you'll like the taste of the sourdough-like Injera, though, bring a fork because the rest of the meal is worth your time and money.

Soul Veg is a Fantasic Place
DESCRIPTION: Loved it! Everyone I know had been and told me to go. All items are vegan with the exception of a few drinks that have honey in them but it is clearly marked. The people that work there are really friendly and made me feel right at home.

Good for Charleston
DESCRIPTION: The food is delicious and nutritious. Their presence in Charleston is greatly appreciated since no other vegetarian restaurants are open here. This is the only all vegetarian (vegan for that matter) restaurant in Charleston.

DESCRIPTION: It's so nice to have a completely vegan (minus the well marked honey-containing products) restaurant. I can't tell how much I appreciate not having to say, "please no butter, cheese, mayonnaise, meat broth, etc.", and then sending something back, almost always- which I don't like to do anyway- because they did, accidentally, use cheese. Charleston is lucky to have this alternative, and I'm surprised we don't have more at least vegetarian restaurants.

DESCRIPTION: Nyala is an excellent restaurant -- a great place to go with a group so you can try lots of dishes. The food is very fresh, unusual, and delicious. The bread (injera) is especially good. It's a sort of spongy sourdough pancake made from teff rather than wheat, and it adds a nice sour contrast to the food. Vegetarians won't go hungry here. There are a lot of vegetarian items on the menu, and they're all good. Trust me, you'll want to go back.
